jobsindubai and Jobs in Dubai

If you are not familiar with Jobs in Dubai Inc, or jobsindubai.com and are looking for a job in dubai, you should be.

For all intents and purposes, I thought the company had shut down, until, today I saw a full page spread in the gulf news, giving a one month waiver on their charge. My first thought was that it beggars belief that such a company could be able to take out an advert like that, when they are known to be scammers. But then I thought, maybe I had it wrong, or maybe it was a new company, so let me look into it in a bit more detail. Can it really be possible that jobsindubai have gone legit?

For those of you that don't know, jobsindubai are known to be scam artists, asking you for cash upfront to get you a job in dubai. So, you give them your hard earned 74 dollars, and you expect them to get you a job. Now, when something is too good to be true, it usually isn't. However, it is pretty difficult to get a job in Dubai, when you are sitting on your sofa in Manchester or Delhi or Iowa or wherever it is that you are, so you think this is the best thing ever, and you pay them. I think that it is quite possible that some people have obtained jobs because it appears that they do sell CVs on to companies. To the uninitiated employer coming to the region or looking at a focused approach, they might spend that minimum of 195 dollars to view CVs. But most likely, jobsindubai probably mail blast your cv to as many companies as they can. Eventually they get lucky.

Let me put it like this: there are many people out there who want to take your money. They will offer you the world and ask for your money in advance. They say it is to cover the registration process or the cost involved. Be very wary of anyone requesting such payments. What they are probably doing at the minimum, is, taking your cash and putting it in a high interest savings account or dabbling in some investment for the 6 months. So, if you are lucky enough to get your cash back, that's what has happened to it, but more often than not you won't. Never send money, credit card or bank account details to anyone to secure or apply for a job. This is actually illegal in the UAE. Any reputable company or agency shoul absorb the costs involved themselves. After all they are charging the companies for your data.

I looked at the site, jobsindubai.com. Here are some of my observations:

- the website looks pretty slick, slick enough to fool anyone

- the network alliance companies listed to give the impression that it is well connected are all owned by jobsindubai or Nofell Izz;

- these network companies are actually all based in Ontario Canada and registered there - the head guy for all of them is Nofel Izz (nofelizz@gmail.com) and a simple whois database lookup on all the sites will give you the detail and proof;

- some of the sites listed there appear dummmy template sites with no real activity;

- one of the companies, flipeasy is actually a condom company;

- careersindubai looks like another company set up to force people to format their cv in a certain way for processing by jobs in dubai;

- the fact that they are listed on Dunn and Bradstreet is no big deal - any company can be on there (if anyone pays the 140 bucks for the report on them, let me know!);

- they mention they have 3 million job candiates - the largest such portal in the uk, reed, has 2 million and their site has a hell of a lot more transparency, legitimacy and bells and whistles;

- JID Referral network is a round about way of saying they email your CV when they feel like it;

- They say that they were established in Dubai, this sounds highly dubious - they are also not here now;

- the jobs listed are some well written spiel by themselves - they never change;

- the excuse for length of time for refunds is just amusing - whether they actually refund is another matter entirely;

- the only two companies listed in the testimonials telecertix and BD and G Trade just don't exist - the other testimonials are so obviously made up.

- A simple search for any other testimonial brings you to this obviously set up page to try and create legitimacy to the people.

- why don't they have any contact phone number in Dubai?;

- you will see from the ITP story below that they do not actually exist at the location listed on aldifaya street;

- the companies listed in the employer list are not considered big league, probably dont know that they are on that page and many don't even operate in dubai; however, motorola and etisalat are on there;

You don't have to believe me and pay your money, but this is a friendly piece of advice. Jobs dont just come along like that. These scam artists advertise all over the place and spend a lot of money on it because they know people will pay money for it. It is also possible that they are also operating uaestaffing.com, even though they have distanced themselves from it. I would steer clear of these guys as well. If you need further proof that these guys are crooks, check these pages out, but watch out for the trolls who have only posted once to try and convince you otherwise:

The ITP artcile is a MUST read.

So, if considering a job in Dubai, we would suggest against using jobsindubai.com. You may think otherwise, but that is your prerogative. Just bear in mind that all the evidence points in one direction.

If anyone has had a positive experience with jobsindubai, I would very much like to meet with you.

I read the ITP interview last week, and really appreciated the way they adressed the issue.

They come up all the time on all sorts of different Forums with threads about 'how do I find a job in Dubai.'

It's always the same story - money to be paid upfront and highly unlikely that any of the jobs they advertise are on their books - if they exist at all. They may or may not indulge in 'blasting' - in effect Spamming employers with the resumes they have in the hope that one of them may pick one of their applicants. If they do, that's the extent of the recruitment help they give.

Employers here are already swamped with applications when they advertise a job. Example, my wife advertised for a secretary and a tele-sales person, applications by e-mail. In two days they received over 4,000 applications.

I ran a thread in my forums (geared towards students in the UAE) a few days back with a link to this blog entry.

There is a post refuting the ITP article in that thread from a person who claims to be the owner of Jobs In Dubai.

Yes, I had read that post. It is amusing that he neither defended his company very well, nor provided a detailed approach on why they charge. He also didn't mention anything with regard to people who have not received their money back in the past. I know a number of such people. All that he did was try to discredit the ITP team who interviewed him, in the hope that this would renew his supposed perception that jobsindubai is legitimate. Is it possible that they have gone legitimate? Possibly. But based on their history, I hope no-one touches them with a barge pole. Their business model preys on naive individuals pursuing their dreams only to be duped at the last minute.

Well i think that comment at least shows that people at ITP are not very reliable, plus the fact that the person complaining in the article was refunded, dont understand why he would lie. I know not to trust ITP's publication i guess..
Is any one in Dubai i mean their address is listed on their website. And the service is free for UAE candidates which is great.

Interesting how mr/ms beanz or beanster as he is known on the mashup forum linked above is a one comment wonder who registered on the day that he posted both here and on the other forum.

The service being free for UAE candidates is perhaps a front to create legitimacy. Why should you be advertising that you give your services for free to candidates, when all the other agencies do this already as a matter of course. This is the normal business model of recruitment agencies.

I know for a fact that the Dubai address does not exist, as you have listed on the other forum.

Jobsindubai does give money back, but not to all. Since I blogged about this, I have had numerous emails, saying that they have been reimbursed their money. But I have also had emails from those who haven't. I haven't heard of anyone who has received a job through them. If there is anyone out there who has, I say again, reveal yourself and prove it.

Else, I think jobsindubai is just a money laundering operation of some sort, that also swindles some people out of their hard earned cash.

Please read my blog again and look into what I have said. A little investigative work and common sense will demonstrate what I am talking about.

It is a wonder why they haven't yet closed down. I suspect that noone can be bothered to invest any time into it especially since most of the candidates probably come from this side of the atlantic.

Well its interesting that you log on both sites as well and make sure that you write something about jobs in dubai everywhere. Are you by any chance an employee of bayt..
Any how I challenge you to go to the Address listed in Dubai. It actually exist and I have looked further in this matter and discovered they are actually registered with the UAE gov't and have all regulations formal follwowed. You dont think gulf would print a full page add without knowing of their existence, cuz in that case you are questioning something you dont know about and have not fully looked into.

Blogger grapeshisha said...

No, dont work for bayt. Just dont want anyone to get ripped off. Perhaps they have gone legit. That just needs to be proved. But I would err on caution, and go with traditional recruitment approaches rather than follow one that depends on your own investment.

I'm not sure you can say that they are a front for a terorrist cell in Canada. There is no evidence to show this. However, I'd be very interested in seeing their accounts.

i wish google would stop running ads from these scammers. maybe they should be reported to google for questionable activities.

Excuse me...I have never heard this one before...terrorist cell...seriously its one thing to have an opinion about a company and way out there to go ahead and call it this....Its an actual business fully registered in canada and now in UAE as well. Maybe you should work for the gov't....

I don't think anyone is refuting the fact thatit is a registered company. What people require detail about is exct proof of placement success, what happens to the money during the time there is no placement etc. etc. There just seems to be a lot of negative information aout the company. And usually that happens in cases where there is legitimate cause.

I really agree that Jobs in Dubai could really be a scam. They have my money now for the past 6 months. Recently they sent me a list of companies that they presented my CV to and claimed they would soon call me for an interview. It never came.

Well, i am still waiting.

I am just wondering how desperate the compatitors of this company jobsindubai.com would be to post messages acusing it of being a terrorism, I have checked jobsindubai.com's website and I think the service is great. I have a suggestion for all the compatitors of jobsindubai.com, if you choose they way of defaming the company you can not compete with you are all losers.

Rana, on the information that we have, it doesn't appear that people have much luck using jobsindubai. i know people have not received their money back. and i know people who have received their money back. I dont know of a single person who has been placed. If there are any people who have had luck, I would like to meet with them in person. No doubt they will be living happily in Dubai, and not in Canada.

I dont recommend jobsindubai to anyone. i joined and kept asking for a user name. after 8 months i didnt receive anything. SO I wasnt even able to log in to the site.
Later on I sent a complain to Google Adwords, who is advertising jobsindubai. IT seems they contacted jobsindubai and forwarded my complain. One week later i received my loggin data! Anyway I also sent to Google Adwords the link to Gulf News article, and Adwords removed them from their advertisers.
But as it is mentioned on this website, they tend not to send back the money. I asked to get refunded.. lets see how much time it will take.

Well I have read many responses out here, but I feel as if someone is trying to put Jobsindubai down for I guess competition reason!. I have registered with them, and have been placed in just 2 weeks, and I currently work for IBM, Qatar. Plus they refunded me my money in full; I cannot understand where they went wrong to attract such attention. I guess people in the jobs in Dubai employment agencies and recruitment agencies are afraid of loosing out their market shares to jobs in Dubai.com

I am an IT analyst and definitely understand the internet industry. You can post slander about any company, that’s where Pay Pal gets about 33 forums that don’t like them. As well as E-Bay which has a total transaction of 35 Billion $, more than many countries GDP, again, people say they are a scam and unreliable.

My conclusion is that, if you think you cannot survive and are unemployed and frustrated, you need to apply for a job instead of being on this blog, every sentence that you actually wasted your time on can help you create a custom resume that can get you a jobs, its people like you Mr. Walid that rack up the bills of tax payers like me. Why should we pay for your employment while all you do is complain on Forums and Bolgs. And at the end if nothing works out, there is always MC Donald’s.

Get a life !

Well said, I just think people have a lot of time to complain. I think these individuals are no one but online employment services that are competing with jobs in dubai, and they are just using up space for people who really have something to say. Notice ! For competition, please improve your website and customer service skills, instead of slandering companies like Jobs in Dubai.com Which frankly I think are the best as compared to any other out there.

The above two comments were posted within minutes of each other, all pro jobsindubai.com. Quite obviously, they are affiliate with the company in some way or another. If you dont have any concrete evidence, please do not post such nonsense.

Gave Jobs in Dubai my money over a year ago. Told them i was moving to Dubai to make it easier to get a job there. I spent over a month there and LOTS of money on that trip and NO Job in Dubai.
I have asked for a refund many times and NOTHING.
Beware of this bunch. No job in Dubai as they said.
I am working here at home in the US, but would rather be in Duba, its a wonderful place to visit and would like to be living there right now.

Hello guyz, Good day! I applied in Jobs in Dubai almost 7 months ago, didn’t hear anything from them till last week, but this week I got an email from one of the employer that they want to do a telephonic interview with me. I wrote them my availability and the best time to call me, and then after two days, I did receive a call from an employer, I was so happy and excited about my telephonic interview. Any ways first I was thinking that Jobs in Dubai is a scam, but now after getting that call from employers, my all thinking is changed….thank you soo much “Jobs in Dubai”.

Hi there grapeshisha. Thanks for this advice. I am glad that I didn't take up the JID approach to getting a job in Dubai. Now I know why they are trying to rubbish your name in forums and trying to ruin your reputation. They are obviously losing business because of all the bad things that are around about them on the internet. And now yesterday I saw some official news on the gulf news paper that says that it is illegal to charge by an agent to the job seeker:

Published: 09/01/2007 12:00 AM (UAE)

Recruitment agencies taking fees from job-seekers 'to be shut down'
By Wafa Issa, Staff Reporter

Dubai: Recruitment agencies taking fees from job-seekers are violating the labour law and will have their offices shut, a senior ministry official said.

Humaid Bin Deemas, Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Labour, said to take fees from a jobseeker is illegal and against the labour law and agencies which get into such practices will be shut down.

"Charging job-seekers to broker between them and employers is illegal not only under the UAE law, but also under international law and the ministry will crack down on all agencies involved in this kind of business," said Bin Deemas.

Dr Ali Abdullah Al Ka'abi, Minister of Labour, has been voicing anger over the ways in which these companies are operating.

"Any person who has fallen victim to these agencies should contact the ministry immediately," said Bin Deemas. In an effort to limit these practices, the ministry has stopped issuing licences to new companies for two years.

This must also apply to companies like jobsindubai as well.

Thanks again grapeshisha for keeping us that dont know in the know.

Hello Grapeshisha,

Well I wish I'd read your blog prior to hitting the send button on my cv... no I haven't sent any money but jobsindubai were quick to send me an email bill notice today (which I won't be paying).

I noticed something was not right (dodgey) when I was uploading my cv as the layout was such that it was a normal mouse click process before I noticed the smaller print 'terms'... which I read after the click and yes, then read about the fee! Well constructed layout to trap the hopeful. The other dodgey bit was most of the jobs listed stated they were "closed" but gee, send your cv anyway as there will be anotherone coming up soon.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hello, I have been looking at jobsinbubai website and went as far as posting my CV, only to get back a request for $92 Canadian. I am very suspicious of any company that demands monies without having to deliver anything. I was surprised to see at the head of this blog are a number of adverts and one for jobsindubai.com. If this lot are not to be trusted whom would you suggest are legitimate people to be talking too. Thanks for the heads up, good to see there afre honest people out there trying to keep things straight
