    Ramadan Prayer Times in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the UAE 2012

    And so it begins. The holy month. Ramadan Kareem to all our readers wherever you are. We are always asked for prayer times in the UAE, so here are the Ramadhan prayer times for Dubai and the Ramadhan prayer times for Abu Dhabi.

    For those of you who don't know what happens during the holy month of Ramadan - here is some basic information to give you a flavour. it was written a few years ago, but many have found it useful: Ramadan in the UAE

    Here is a snippet:

    Why is Ramadan important? Muslims believe that the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammed during this month on the of night of Laylat ul Qadr, which is on one of the last ten nights of Ramadhan - those are the nights when people will be awake all night praying.

    The other emirates are slightly ahead of Dubai. E.g -1 or -2 minutes for Sharjah, -2 for Ajman, -4/5 for RAK.

    Arabic Word of the Day

    Interesting that today's word of the day from collinsdictionary.com is Arabic.

    The word is jamaat and it means Islamic council or assembly.

    On closer inspection there is a section about words that come from Arabic, which is interesting:

    And you can also submit your word into the dictionary.  There are some interesting submissions! Who knows? - Maybe there will be more English  words that come from Arabic.
